BRYSON RA

Through sport, recreation, culture and the organization of community events, AR de Bryson aims to promote a vigorous, active and dynamic community spirit.

Day camp: The Collines Heureuses summer camp is organized by AR Bryson in collaboration
in collaboration with the Municipality of Bryson. A day camp for Pontiac children, offering a fun, active, nature-based and diversified experience.

 

Community events: baseball and ball field hockey tournaments, Christmas party, Easter,
Halloween, winter festival, light parade, boat parade, etc.

 

Organized sports: Adult and youth baseball, soccer, dance, volleyball, ball field hockey

Infrastructure: installation of acoustic panels (2025), installation of protective netting around the ball field (2024), installation of 1-5 year-old play structure (2024), fencing of skating rink (2023), contribution to climbing wall (2023), air-conditioning system (2022), swings (2022), etc.

 

Socio-community contribution: bursaries for ESSC and PHS high school graduates, contribution to youth sports registration fees, donations to families in need, priority hiring for Bryson and Pontiac youth.

 

Funding sources: Since we are a non-profit organization (NPO), our funding comes 90% from fundraising (‘Draws for Gems’ via Facebook, ball tournament, ‘Boat Poker Run’, winter carnival etc.), from municipal contributions and our major projects from grants and financial assistance programs (Summer Jobs Canada, Loisirs Sport Outaouais, Ministère de la Famille etc.)

Bryson Golden Age

The Bryson Golden Age Club (BGAC) has been actively involved in hosting a variety of events and activities for the community.

Location and Contact

Weekly Activities: Euchre, exercise sessions, Bingo, and alternating craft and quilting classes are regularly enjoyed by our members.

 

Special events: Themed Bingo nights for Halloween and Christmas, as well as a New Year’s celebration at the Lions Hall to close out the 150th anniversary celebrations.

 

Committed to supporting community health and learning: Through a successful cultural grant, we offered craft and painting classes in past years, with leftover funds ensuring continued classes are run by volunteers.

 

In collaboration with the Western Quebec Literacy Council: We’ve organized a digital literacy course that helped participants improve their skills with tech including tablets and other devices. Additionally, we installed a defibrillator at the club and provided First Aid courses to interested community members.

 

Successful events: Breakfasts for the Bryson 150th Winter Carnival and the Groove and Bass Festival attendees, as well as a special social tea during the Bryson Summer Festival. Ongoing activities include crafting on demand, a new sewing class, and upcoming plans for a painting class.
